What's new with well child visits?

The Affordable Care Act and new regulations ensure that preventive services are available in new health plans for children with no cost sharing. If you or your family enroll in a new health plan on or after September 23, 2010, then that plan will be required to cover recommended preventive services without charging you a copay, co-insurance or deductible.

Well-baby and well-child visits will include (until the age of 21) :
- Physical exam
- Vision and hearing screening
- BMI
- Developmental assessments to identify any development problems
- Screenings for hemoglobin level, lead, and other tests
- Counseling and guidance from your doctor about your child’s health development
-Routine vaccinations

Please check with your insurance ahead of time to make sure your policy has been updated to include preventative services for your family.
