Breastfeeding Support
Meet Lactation Consultant Lisa Harris, RN, BSN, IBCLC! Lisa has years of experience and has worked in many diverse settings throughout her career. She brings a gentle, experienced, and guiding hand to your breastfeeding experience, working with you to make bonding with your baby a rewarding and enjoyable.
Schedule a lactation consult in your home! Lisa will work with you to develop your breastfeeding plan and set the goals you wish to achieve. She will help you and your baby reach those goals by giving you the knowledge and encouragement needed for you to provide your baby with the emotional and nutritional benefits of breastfeeding.
Many health plans cover breastfeeding and lactation support as a preventive benefit for pregnant and nursing women. Actual coverage varies based on your specific insurance plan, network status, provider type, place of service, and the billing requirements of your insurance carrier.
LCP will collect your insurance information and attempt to verify your lactation benefits before your visit. Please note that verification of benefits is not a guarantee of payment. Your insurance company makes the final determination on coverage and payment after a claim is submitted.
Some insurance plans cover lactation services at no cost to you when they are provided by an eligible in‑network provider. Other plans may:
- Apply visit limits
- Require specific billing codes
- Require services to be billed under the mother’s insurance rather than the baby’s
- Require the lactation provider to be credentialed with the plan
Visit length may vary based on clinical need and scheduling. Insurance coverage is determined by the payer’s rules and the billing code, not by a guaranteed number of 30‑minute visits.
If your insurance denies or limits coverage, we will review the denial and explain what options are available. Any patient responsibility depends on your plan’s benefits and the payer’s final claim determination.
